CVNA Land Use Chairs Dave and Dixie Johnston, as well as David Ellis of Lewis & Clark College, are beginning to look through the rather hefty application file. What we have learned so far is that Riverview is asking for $24 million dollars or the removal of open space and environmental zone overlays on the property, which would allow the land to be developed for housing. Plans and drawings of potential development on the site show upwards of 100 new homes.
Development of this nature on this site would have profound impacts on livability in Collins View, especially as it relates to traffic and congestion, issues that we already struggle with now. Under Measure 37 the city has only 6 months to process claims, so we will certainly be following this closely and taking every opportunity to make our input heard. We are still in the information gathering stage and will keep neighbors updated as we learn more.
